Attention Deficit Hacks, Building Back Better and Connections

If it’s living with CPTSD or living with ADHD, we need our little life hacks. Whisper found an ADHD helpline…tweet. It’s a Twitter thread.

In a shorter, light-hearted episode, we catch up with each other and talk about what’s coming up for the podcast and remind ourselves about the things that are important for us and for the podcast.

This thing that you got me? Yeah. I just decided that it was gonna be my glasses holder cuz I'm gonna have.

I'm gonna have six pairs of glasses.  , I literally Can you read that Glasses holder ? Yeah. Yeah. Literally like I wrote down today, where . I'll have six pairs of glasses. Cause there's six lots. And it's gonna be my glasses folder. No, that, that's perfect. I can't, I We're ridiculous. I can't believe that we I literally wrote that down.

I need a glasses holder. Oh, that's funny. That is so funny. And look at us now. We both have glass. We're old . Let me get rid of these loud dogs. I forgot they were in here. Oh. Get out. Dogs are getting kicked out. Love you, but you're too loud. . Why? Why do dogs always show up when you're doing stuff that you know?

You don't need them to be there for Yeah. Good question. Like when they come and like stare at you when you're trying to have sex.

they do that, don't they? I finally calmed down from laughing , I gotta tell you what I did. So do you see that these they're new pajamas. Oh, okay. Yeah. Cute. And, And they're that super soft velvet, right?   Their pants and a shirt.

I came over here to  turn on the zoom and  sat down  on my chair. Just fucking, just slipped right down. I sat down all I on the floor. Oh my goodness. That's freaking funny. Oh my God. Cause it's  it's like velvet against plastic and I didn't even think about it.

I just sat down like a banana peel. That's hilarious. I have had a day. So that's, that is definitely vindictive. Indicate fuck, why can't I ever pronounce words? That's very much . What my day's been.  indicative. Indicative, Yeah. Is that the one? I did an extra graphic design job this month, and so I got some extra money and I have a list of things that I've needed,  house things , for kind of a while.

One of them is a garbage can  I went out today and I went to a couple of different stores.  I went to Ross, That's where I got these pajamas. And then I went to Walmart, and then I think I stopped through and got coffee.  I did two different transactions at Ross  my bank did the same thing. It did   the last time this happened to me where I like got some extra money and I went shopping they turned off my card. They're like, Oh wait, Whisper's buying clothes. . Can't be right. Can't be right. Can't be her . So I got my card turned off.

I was , stressing over that,  I went to Walmart and I got  this garbage can,  did the whole self checkout, go home, come in the house, and I'm like, Where's my fucking garbage bin?

I left it at Walmart. Oh, no. . Yes. So I tried calling them and calling them, but it's, this time of night, they're like, I'm, they're not gonna pick up. So finally I just drove over there and they had to check the cameras, to make sure you bought it to Yeah, to, yeah. Yeah, to I had the receipt, so I definitely bought it.

But they wanted to, I think they wanted to make sure That it, That's true. That I did leave it there . And the guy's like, Don't worry, I believe you. Who steals garbage cans, . I was like, You'll are right. Yeah. And this happened last night,, it took me a while to recover. My daughter went out to a Halloween party.

And it was my responsibility to feed her cat. Now this is like a bit weird with this cat because for years she refused wet. She only wanted dry food. But now that she's gotten older, after we had that whole thing that she went through, we had to have surgery and whatever.

She's older, I think she's 10 or something. 10, 11. We started giving her wet food and like basically  it's crack for her. Suddenly, ,  she never wanted wet food, but now, if you do not feed her wet food at the time that you're supposed to feed her, she will meow you to death.

And of course,  I was busy doing whatever and she comes and she starts meowing me on, come on, it's time to go get fed. I went to go feed her and   she likes the fish ones.  But oh, it's just so smelly.

But I was like, Okay, I'm really gonna be careful. And I opened and I didn't get any on my hands, so I thought,  and  I was on my way to wash my hands, but without thinking, my nose itched so I wouldn't like this. All my God.

It smelled like a whale pooped oysters . It was so bad. I'm not joking. Like I almost fucked your bestel. Cause I wasn't expecting it either. I was just, Oh my god.

A whale poop. Oh my God. That's funny. So I sent that text  I was like, Why do you leave me unsupervised? Oh, Oh. I don't know. Sometimes I wonder how I function as a human being. It seems iffy. , It seems very iffy sometimes. Very iffy.

Anyways, tell me how you're doing. I'm great. . Why, Wait, what am I supposed to say? No . Are you feeling better? Cause you've been having like migraines and nausea and all this awful stuff. . Yes, I did the whole like, I can't open my eyes.

Fuck thing.  It's very bad.  Usually I get nauseous first.  and then I get a headache afterwards. I don't know if that's how it goes for everybody, but that's how it goes for me. I get like sick to my stomach and  my hormones are just out of whack. And unfortunately, when you do go into menopause, I've heard that it just goes all crazy. There's knows no schedule anymore.    that Twitter thread that I sent you about the adhd suggestions. So I went through the list. I wrote them down.  I can read them if you want, but there's a couple things on there that I, that.

Was like, This is gonna work for me. I,    do you want me to read you the. a h d hacks. Sure. That I chose.  What if HG is not really. A touch and deficit disorder, but just too many things on the brain disorder, right? Yeah. ,  it short circuits, it  goes overboard. Yeah. Oh, too much and  when you have some sort of engine system that starts getting overheated, that just shuts itself down. Yep. It's got  in and overload. . Now you may not function  you have overloaded this very small piece of flesh that have to think from, and now you shall not function.

I like this one a lot cause it appealed to the gamer in me.  If you're in burnout or executive function shutdown, right? do you know what a D 20 is? You get one of those like 20 sided dice. They're  for , when people  get really deep into gaming,  board gaming, so you can get these dice that have  up to 20 on them.

And  you roll the dice and then , you either do the number of things that you rolled or do it for the number of minutes that you rolled. Say you roll five and you're like, Okay, I'm gonna do five dishes and you get up and do it. Or, whatever it might be. Like a number. And I thought that was  really cool cuz there's that element of surprise  which kind of brings that dopamine in.  That was like a super good idea.  This one person said that , they've created different music playlists for  when they do certain things. So if they need to clean the kitchen, they have a playlist for cleaning the kitchen or if they need to, answer their bills or their email or whatever.

Like they have a playlist for that. And so they'll just go and put it on play. And that puts them in that mindset, Okay, we're doing it now. And that sort of brings them back into executive  function. That's the other thing that a lot of people said too, is they will put something on like either a show or a song or a podcast, ,  because that helps to keep track of the time, because you get, time lost, right?

And so if you put something on it, okay, a podcast, this is one hour, then when it's finished, I know that, an hour has passed. Or they also use it for executive  disfunction by putting something on, be like, Okay, I'm gonna get up and vacuum.  while this song is playing.

that was cool. It's not as fun as the rolling the dice, but it's also a good idea. Now this one was genius and I was just like, Yes,  this needs to be done. So you know how like taking medicine or vitamins is  one of the worst things you forget all the time, right?

This person said they put their medicine in with their cat food. And so the cat is the one who comes up and, I need to be fed, I need to be fed. Meow. And so they go into,  feed the cat and there's their met. And I was like, That's fing brilliant. If you have to do something  every single day, whatever it might be,

and you always. We often forget you put them where you keep the pet food and that pet is not gonna let you not feed them that day. Isn't that smart? Yeah. , what I do is I put it in front of something that I know I'm not gonna forget, part of my morning routine is feeding the cats, but I don't put it with the cat food, but I know I'm not gonna forget to make my green tea in the morning because that's I'm like, green tea,

Right? And then I get to the green tea and I'm like, Oh, there's the meds. And then I take 'em like that's, Yeah, that's what I was gonna say is put it in front of something that you know. Yep. You're not if you're a coffee fainted, put it in front of your coffee. Yep. Because then you know you're not gonna go and make your coffee without forgetting to take your meds because you're gonna open the coffee cup and boom, there they are.

But yeah that's, I think that's a great hack. Yeah. It really is. So this other person was saying too, because you can get. Numb to the alarms.  You stop hearing them after a while. So when they have  really important things that they don't want to forget, they put  a super awful, obnoxious sound as the alarm

Something that you could never actually get used to .  I thought  that was actually   that's a good idea. This other person said do one thing after each time you use the toilet.  Say you have a list of things to do, you're gonna get up even if you're in,  burnout or executive function shutdown, immobile states, you're gonna get up and use the bathroom.

So they have added this habit of doing one thing that they need to do after each bathroom run. And I was like, that's really smart too. Cuz you're already up, you're in movement, it brings it. Yes.  Another hack  and I think I'm gonna try and use this because this is what happens to me, they lay out all their different projects and hobbies and the things that they need for them on the dining room table or whatever, so that if they need a switch,

they can just switch to the other activity and it's all right there.  Another one is  something that you forget very often, but you need to not forget is , put one of it in every room that you go to.

Like for example, brushing your teeth, right? , put  a toothbrush that you can use and toothpaste in every bathroom and on kitchen sink and, places that you're gonna constantly see it. I thought that was a good idea.

That's what I do with my glasses. , never keep track of them.  One in my purse. One by the computer multiples of things. Yes. Most everybody, brought up chapstick  they have 20 things of chapstick,  everywhere. . I also do that. I have chapstick in many multiple places.

Yes. So a couple people were talking about having a sticker chart and I was like I don't know. That might trigger me really bad, but  for whoever was using it,  it worked really well for them. Cause again, there's that dopamine, that reward system,  another person had.

Something that they really liked. Say,  a candy or something to eat, right? Or did they say it was something to eat anyways? Like a reward. So after every time you do something, you reward yourself with whatever it might be. Like, okay, now I can, have this candy bar. And then a person responded to that and said, I do that, but I do it before.

Because if I have the reward before I do it, then I feel guilty to. That's a good, I like that. Even better then. I won't. Just kidding. , there's always that maybe factor there. . . Another person, and this is actually kind of cool,  if you have a really important person in your life  in their case it was their spouse.

, you know, how you can schedule pre-schedule texts or ims. So they ask their spouse to schedule,  all these different ims. And so  when the IM shows up on their phone there's that instant dopamine hit of, Oh my God, this is something from someone I love.

And then  that gets them going, gets them moving. So I thought that was really cool. This one, , this one I think I'm gonna try cause it sounds, it actually sounds really fun. So you put all your household tasks or whatever you're listed to dos that you need to do all the time write them on

they use janga blocks, but I'm sure you can use anything. So write them on Janka blocks and you put them in a bag and  you  reach in and pull it out. and that's what you do then. And I thought that was actually really fun cuz there's that again, that little element of surprise   another one was  a lot of them were talking about  outta sight outta mind, right?   They  buy something in the store, they put it in the fridge and three weeks later they're like, Oh wait, I have eggs here.

So and this takes obviously planning and work, but  , at the beginning of the week, they make themselves. A menu, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that. Write it on sticky notes, put it up on the cupboard. And then every time,  you  go in and you're like, Oh there's six different sticky notes of dinner that I have stuff for.

And then when you finish it, you pull off the sticky note.  And it also helps  with that decision making thing that we were talking about earlier, right?

, I don't have to make this huge decision over every single type of food and recipe There is. I've got five of them here and that's all I have to decide about, so that was really cool. Someone said that they bought paper bracelets from Amazon, and I think those are like the club, those kind of bracelets use as a club.

And so they they write what they need to do that day. On these paper bracelets and put them all on. They're like, Yes, it looks silly. But   as I do the things I need to do,, I cut them off and then it's done. I was like, that's actually of cool. That's also sounds like fun cuz you like, you're literally like seeing it all the time, And you can pretend you're going to the Fair and  or the nightclub  there. There you go. Or the hospital, if you like that.

That's a good one.  maybe. Necrophilia or something. Yeah. Yeah. I am

Jesus. I wonder if there's a disorder where you like sick people, where you like sick people. , you like going to the hospital, gets you off like  walking around and seeing all these people in distress. Isn't that kind of  Mountains by proxy kind of, But that's not necessarily like you're getting off, I don't think.

I'm like, That just turns sideways.  . I didn't it as getting off . I just again, as in getting May maybe it would make you feel alive or something. Or there's that act, that actual disorder, and I know I'm pronouncing it wrong because I literally pronounce everything wrong, but it's like Munchin's Sen's.

It's M U N C H A U S E N,  Munes. Yeah, I think that's right. Musin.  Disorder, and that's when you always wanna be sick. Always going to the doctor. And then there's munchin sins by proxy, which is a person wants , someone else in their life to be sick.

There was that really famous story that they made a movie about.  This woman she did this for her daughter. She had her daughter like actually in a wheelchair. And she was giving her, she was giving her shit that made her sick.  And when she got older and started like figuring life out, she realized that she actually was not sick and she'd been having chemotherapy.

She like all these things.  It was a really wild story. And now I don't remember the name of course  you don't remember that story. And then  the daughter was so angry that her mother had kept her  basically incarcerated in her own home and stuck in a wheelchair giving her medicine  so that she can't actually use her muscles for your Oh yeah, maybe I do.

Yeah. For years and years. And  she got so angry. She killed her mom. , she got a boyfriend and then her and her boyfriend killed, her mom. Couple things going really wrong in that story. . But   I think it's something that's they only label it if it's  really  extreme. Yeah.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard. That's right. Gypsy Rose. The mom was Dei  Dei Blanchard. And the daughter was Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Yeah. , it was a crazy story. I think it was Hulu that. Made out of it. Document. It was very much a movie.

It was, it wasn't like a documentary That's really sad. Something has to be really wrong with you to do that to your child.  It's one of those things we will never understand.  we won't understand because we're not them, but yeah. The last thing that I have,  is

instead of doing chores based on the day okay, every Wednesday I do laundry. Like you make a rule about the laundry itself.  Instead of attaching it to a day, which is scheduled, you attach it to, Okay. When this basket is full,  and then I do the laundry when this, when the sink of dishes is this, then I wash the dishes.

I thought that was actually like an interesting thing too, cuz that helps. Take away the the scheduling of it. Cuz as soon as the schedule gets put on there, you're like, cut 'em. Done  for me, it's whenever I have no pants, then I watch the laundry. There you go. That's yeah, whenever I cannot go to work because all my clothes are stinky and dirty and then I wash the laundry  I literally put it off till the last day too.

Oh my gosh. Every last little thing I've got. And then it's if I don't do laundry now I'm totally screwed and I will have nothing. Anything back. And that works.  The one suggestion that they had that  I was like , I need this so badly in my life

it's like having to do with laundry as well. I constantly have laundry all over my room because I will wear something once and  it's too dirty to put away and it's too clean to wash. Yeah. Yeah. A hat bring it on. Yeah. So they got, you get three baskets

one of those baskets that are  divided into three,  one is dirty, one is clean, and then one is half clean, worn, once, Yeah. They'll worn once one, whatever you wanna call them.

And yeah, a lot of people were saying it, I was like this super big solution to them and I was like, Uhuh, I need that. Cause Then it's not about have I washed my clothes or what do I have to wear? It's about Oh my God, I have a place to put them. My bed can be clear or my floor or whatever.

It's, is That's a good idea. It is. Yes.  and I actually have have my solution to that problem is similar. Yeah. Is I got one of those hanging closet racks. That has little holes in it, but it's like a soft cloth thing. Yeah. I think it's meant for shoes maybe. I'm not sure. But they're big squares and so I put my half worn clothes in there and I have a half worn shirt and a half worn pant shelf.

That's what I call 'em, half worn.   If it's hanging in the closet, it's freshly washed. And it smells nice for sure. And it's not gonna possibly have a little spot somewhere or something. Yeah. If it's in the half worn pile, then it's fine.

To wear and then I, that way I can mix and match my half worn outfits. . . Yeah. There you go. Yeah. That works really well. I, that's what I did with my work clothes too, because, Okay. Yeah. I couldn't get it together. To get 'em out of the laundry pile. . So this way though, all I have to do is very quickly separate pants and shirts cuz I have a shirt hole and a pan hole stuff.

The pants and the pant hole stuff. The shirts and the shirt hole stuff. The socks and the sock drawer bow done. Yeah. Out of the way. Not all over the bedroom. Yeah. That's great. Yes. There's solutions to things. Yeah. And  I super appreciate it. Those ones that I jotted down were ones that I was like, Okay that actually might help me in one way or another.

But there's  tons of them,  these little hacks,, they do really help . They do. Yes. And they make a difference. And I was thinking about that the other day.  Actually. A little while before you mentioned it, ,  finally, was that, there's all these little tiny ideas a thing that you find for a solution in your life, and then you might as well be like, Hey, this works for me, and maybe we're all humans, , , we're not all that different from each other that it's not gonna work for somebody else possibly. Yeah,. I think sometimes we get so afraid of falling into the, you need to do this. , Lane. Yep. Now that we just clam up and we stay over here, like none of this is my business.

Yeah, sure. It's not your business, but tell somebody what's working for you. That's, Yeah. Gosh. Every single one of those people that were on that Twitter thread is helping many more. Your one idea is gonna help solve a problem for 25 people who read that tweet.  I agree with you. If something is working for you, shout it from the rooftops, , you definitely, So let's talk about our projects then, and Yes, welcome to Butterflies and Bravery. No, . Put that in the beginning. , are you here?

Yes or no? Okay. We have a lot of ideas, , that we've been talking about and saying we have these ideas in the work,  some of them even though they're not completely totally done. We're  gonna share some of the stuff that we're working on, and then we're gonna restructure our podcast a little bit.

And Whisper's gonna tell you about that cuz that was all of her idea. But since she's been talking a lot, I'm gonna talk now. No  please. So we're  we're gonna start having weekly online meetings. We're going to.  do them on Zoom. Right? Yes, absolutely. And if anybody wants to be on the Zoom list and you're listening to this, you can send us your email at butterfliesandbravery@gmail.com yes. Or if you're not already following us on Facebook or Instagram, you can follow us on there. I don't know exactly how and where we're gonna post the links or how it's gonna work, but , it's gonna happen.

Yes, absolutely. And we're

going to be forming. , some sort of SGA alliance with our Yes. Various projects that we have with Counter Col Coalition, the non-profit that I'm working with and I five Freedom Network, the one that whisper's working with and other people that have, if you're listening and you have projects and you want to be involved in our alliance or like the Alliance  I was say when I was driving was ABCs Alliance of Born in Cult Survivors.

That's so perfect. I love it. You're amazing. Oh my. Doesn't that sound cool? Yes, that is perfect. The ABCs I That's perfect. Alliance of Born In Cult Survivors Survivors. Cause that's really, that's very clear what we are born in. Cult survivors. Yes. Very. You're, we got messaged today by someone that wants to come on the podcast.

Very exciting. They are an ex Jehovah's Witness, which those folks are crazy. And he, and they are they are going, they wrote a book and they're going to publish it. And they wrote us and asked to be in our podcast, but they're gonna publish it on their 40th birthday, and it's going to

it's going to be the first time that they celebrate their birthday. Aww. In their whole life. Because they Cause the Jehovah's Witness don't celebrate anything. Yes, I'm quite familiar. Chess . There's a large population in the area that I lived with, and I worked with a couple of them, so I got the whole low down , but yes.

Yeah. I'm super excited about that, so That's awesome. That is so cool. Isn't that cool? And this is my great idea. Yes. So we're going to start having a true tales from times past , which will be, Wait, that was your great idea to no. I'm sharing this with everyone, that we're going to start having a true tales from times past to segment in our monthly podcast setup that whisper's gonna share with you.

And so not traumatizing stories. But short or stories or very extremely odd kind of things that happened. So here's my fantastic idea. Yes. Is I'm ready. Everyone that grew up in a cult Yeah. Can send in their true tales from times past to butterflies and be gmails.com and just re true tales from times past

Okay. And then all of, we'll read all of them. Okay. So the best ones will read on the podcast, and then the remainder of all of them we'll read on our subscription channel Okay. Can be one of our subscription parts. Yeah, I like that. , because I'm assuming we're going to start getting quite a number of these.

Oh my God. One time this happened and Oh dude, remember we have to do this. And so just send it in a kind of a short readable format. Yeah. And then we'll will read the best ones on the podcast and we'll read 'em. Or are the one Yeah, the ones that are the ones that are more probable for the general public, let's say.

Not the best. Yes. Because they're all great. They're gonna all be great stories. True. But just, yeah, just the ones that maybe, that are a little bit more Okay. Like I, like the general public can, could hear and understand  they're not gonna understand most of it,  a little bit.

But yes. Or anything that'll help to paint the picture a little bit clearer of the way that we grew up and some of the difficulties and challenges that a lot of us faced and. Yeah. Then we can share all of them. The other ones. Yeah. Yeah. All for sure. On our subscription channel.

And is that a cool idea? Yes. I like that very much. I like that very much. That'll be super fun. Yeah. So tell us about the restructure, . Yeah. We wanna put, Okay. We'll be honest about this. Gotta be honest. I'm not, I guess I'll be honest about this. We've been at this for a year and a half.

We've had fucking amazing. Guests, amazing people. , this has been a life changing experience. , it's nothing about that is different or change, but we ourselves, in our personal lives have gotten center of busier and busier. And it's starting to become like how can we get this done?

Because again, like we always say, , we're doing this all in our own free time.  We're not getting paid for this. This is all our, on our own dime and our own time. And when you just keep doing that and keep doing that plus start adding all these other things,  so the idea was  let's make this a little bit clearer and easier on us, but also a little bit more structured so that our listeners  can know what to expect.

So the idea is  the first week of the month.

Yes. The first podcast, Yes. Week of the month will be a short one. It'll be me and Jemima. Telling you a little bit about what's been going on for us last month, what's coming up for the next month, telling you about who the guests are gonna be and what to look forward to.

It'll be short and sweet and fun. And then .  Any conversations that,   continue after that recording, which will happen a lot, I'm sure with us . We will post that uncensored and unedited for, our sub subscribers for subscriber. Listen. So the first week of the month will be news updates.

Simple, and then the second week, and the third week will be when we have our guests, when we have the more meaty , forget the word. Yeah. The sort of the, We're making a sandwich, we have one end of . It'll be the meat and cheese of the sandwich. We'll be our second and third week we'll have our guests professional specialists or, , anyone that's coming on.

And then the fourth week of the month we wanted to add a new, I guess feel like a new show, , that's gonna be called True Tales from Times Past. Because that is a little jingle , that we had to listen to.  fuck, it was on the time beam, I was on that show, The Time Beam, I think. Yeah.

Yeah. So the, our cult used to make these videos. They thought that they were really  making the most amazing things. . They made awful it was like a variety show, right? Sadly, they were one of the coolest things going on at the time, but yes they're awful.

But there was this little segment called True Tales From Time Has Passed, had a little jingle, and, stories would happen there. And I was like, Oh my gosh. That's what we need. , So the fourth week of the month is going to be our true Tales from Times. And that's where people can come on and tell their stories.

We are going to actually  record a visual version of it. That will be available for subscribers as well. like a YouTube channel. And we'll put that up and yeah, like Jeremiah was saying earlier the wild, the wacky , the weird it might be a day in the life, right?

I have this friend, this amazing friend  she's like an engineer of something  super, smart. But I have no idea what her life actually looks like, right?  If something's not on the normal line of things, it's really hard to imagine what that is.

A day in the life would be fantastic. Or just weird things and the crazy things that have come along in our lives,  it's not all from us. , we wanna hear from our listeners, we wanna hear from people coming on. And it should be, we're shooting for it.

We're hoping it'll be more of a fun, lighthearted episode, we might, have meme competitions or , things like that. So that's the idea. If there is a fifth week in the month, which does happen, I think somewhere around three or four times a year that we'll be off the air.

We'll take a breather on that. And then we are going to also Have a couple months of the year, we're gonna take off, which would be the, November, December, the holidays, . It's gonna be very difficult to keep up with everything. And so it's a good time to just, to take off probably our listeners, won't always have that much time anyways, so November, December will be our vacation days.

not that we're having vacation, just . It'll be time we'll be off the air and then we'll start again, January boom    this November and December, since this is new and we're just going to be restructuring and restarting  we still wanna be around.  I know right now we're saying like, this is of like work  and it is, there, there is an element of it but it's also just, it's so great.

It's really fun and   it fills my heart  it just, it fills my heart and I know that we're connecting with each other.  , our listeners are connecting with us.  Connection.

It's such an important piece. Even if all we do is get on , just tell our stories about leaving trash cans  at Walmart, we'll be around, since this is new and  we don't wanna like just do without warning. So our this November, December, we decided will be later months.

We won't have guests but we will be here. , Jeremiah, and I. Of course, actually we can have guesses if anybody, if anyone's Hey, I need to talk about this, I want to, come on. We're super, super happy about that.

Is that's a good explanation. Very good. Excellent. Okay, cool.  Beautiful. Yeah.  We've already decided, because January is human trafficking awareness month. Yes. And so for example, like for January, we're going to have some discussions with people and professionals  around human trafficking and what that is and the fact that most born and cult survivors.

we're trafficked in one way or another, and sort of the connection between that. So that's gonna be, that's gonna be a good but difficult subject, but it's gonna be a good subject that we can talk about. So that'll be our January and then  we  wanna keep in connection with y'all

and I think it'll be fun to have, like a little bit things like in a little bit of more of an expectation line. Okay. I don't wanna listen to Jeremiah and Whisper don't. I'll tune in , for Dr. Janja Lalich  the good thing about structuring it this way is that there's gonna be a lot more anticipation of knowing what's coming. Get know this month we're gonna have these guests, we're gonna have these speakers. We we're having some conversations about that, about podcasts in the cult world. , because this podcast is one of the very few that's out there. I don't know, I don't know of any other podcast that's out there that is run by, two born in survivors, or I mean Born in Survivors at all. There was one, what was it called?

Generation Culture, something like that. But they were only on the air for a couple years and they shut down. So I think right now We're one of the few, but there is a lot of cult podcasts out there that are being run by people that have never been in a cult and definitely have never been born in a cult.

And that's it's been an interesting discussion. We're starting to have a little bit more because we ran into the issue. We did a little bit Jerome and I the butterflies in bravery, but more so the Counter Cult  Coalition, were going to be interviewed by a podcast.

And it was very big podcast. A podcast that makes a lot of shit, ton of money. And so the conversations started about wait, why are non survivors financially benefiting from our stories? This is no, and I feel that yeah, pour the money on a survivor, like that's

I'm all about that.  we're all for lifting each other up and lifting our fellow survivors up. But it is, there's a little bit of a weird, , like how

some people  have one leg shorter than the other. It's almost like that's how it feels like. It's okay, we're walking, but there's something not right about it. And that's how some people we're feeling about these interviews. And it's been an interesting topic of a discussion about what this is gonna look like going forward, don't you think?

. Yeah. There's a lot of work to do there. There really is. And there's so much important connections to be made and to be kept and to be nurtured. And that is, in a lot of cases, gonna probably be, the thing that, that keeps us going, our connections with each other, keep us going. And so we should  do whatever we can to foster and nurture that, right?

Yeah. And to create a safe environment for that. That's the most important thing. , we never set out to have a podcast that was going to  be our full paying job that, like we're rolling in the dough.

That was never ever the mission, the idea, the thought it was all about these connections that we wanna keep and nurture and have. I wanna protect those. I wanna protect what's out there,  obviously, this is such,  a bigger conversation and, we don't necessarily have to talk about this now, but it's just been on my mind, yeah.

And, anyone else that, is of thinking around these lines of Okay, cults are everywhere right now. People wanna know. And  I'm happy that people wanna know more because the awareness that is starting to happen, the general public about coercion  it's super important.

So I'm excited  that this is coming out. But there's also this element of the survivors to us , cuz it's not just awareness, , there's this whole fucking devastated generation that is trying to put their lives back together and is, plugging into the pieces here and  there and, how do you balance that awareness, that knowledge that needing to get the word out with, but also we need to nurture and care for the people who have lost everything because of these fucking colts, right?

Yep. Crazy when I think about the fact that we grew up with mental health being labeled as demonn possession. Yeah, for real. Serious. Even epilepsy.

Even epilepsy.  That can be a, one of those, weird tales of times. Pass . Yeah. Oh man. So many weird things like, oh my God, it's just not Okay.     Stay brave . And remember that every caterpillar becomes a butterfly. . That's right. That's perfect. I love it. We, every caterpillar we will there's your time. If it hasn't come yet, your time is coming.

It's there. That's right. And don't hate the butterflies that are already butterflies, cause everybody has their time. That's right.   📍
